The next best thing to working out and eating right is finding figure flattering clothes that make you appear slimmer without any effort. I have found some foolproof styles that work every time for any body type and occasion. The first is the cardigan. Cardigans slenderize with fine textured knits and skim trouble spots, but still show your shape. You can highlight the thinnest part of your torso with a single strategically placed button, or choose a V-neck with ribbing where you want attention. Trousers with a stretchy, supportive fabric glide over jiggly areas with foolproof fit will flatter every figure. You can appear slimmer in seconds with these stealth slenderizers. High-waisted skirts are another diversionary dynamo. They seem to raise the waist, make you look leggier, and hit at the narrowest part of the rib cage to emphasize curves. Topping off your look with a fitted blazer is my favorite slimming tip. A well fitting blazer can not only magically make you look super put together, but it it can also have a slimming effect. Look for a blazer that comes in slightly at the waist and hits just below the hip. The right fit is the most important, so do not be afraid to take yours to a tailor to get it sized just right all over. Perfect with trousers, skirts, and even jeans. Wearing a lighter colored blouse or T-shirt underneath can also make you waist look smaller — it’s magic!
This is my new favorite top for fall. I just found it a couple of weekends ago at Dress Barn on sale for $19.99. Today I simply paired it with my black pencil skirt and aqua green statement necklace. However, this top is so versatile I will be pairing it with scarves, jackets and different necklaces all fall and winter.
The weather has finally started to get a little cooler, which can only means one thing – SCARF weather!! This is probably one of my favorite accessories, because they are so versatile. I have had this blue pencil skirt ($49.99) for a couple of seasons. If you remember, I have one in magenta as well. You cannot go wrong with a pencil skirt. I added my new black lightweight sweater that I scored for $19.99 a couple of weekends ago. Then I wrapped a leopard print scarf around my neck to bring the look together. I added my black flats, so I would be comfortable at the office, and off I went.
I am going to a wedding in a couple of weeks, so I was looking for something new to wear when I came across this burgundy lace dress online at lanebryant.com. As you know I frequent this store often, so I knew my size. I had a $25 coupon if I spent $50, making this $79.95 purchase only $54.95. Today I just added a couple of necklaces and a strappy bronze Nine West shoe, but this fall I can add a jacket or a scarf changing the entire look. I plan to get many different looks out of this solid burgundy dress.
I am starting to pull out my fall clothes even though the temperatures are still not cooling down much here in South Carolina. But I know some of my followers are from Illinois and other northern states, where it has started to turn chilly. I am trying to will fall to hurry up down here! So, for today’s look I wore this multi-colored faux wrap dress from Dress Barn ($59.99). I added a textured black jacket from Lane Bryant ($50) and the gold statement necklace from Baublebar.com. I choose my Nine West peep toes sling back heels today; however, this would also look good with black knee high boots and tights later this fall.
You probably remember this royal blue dress from my post on May 27th. As temperatures start to cool this fall, I wanted to be able to continue to wear this versatile dress. So when I found this fitted white jacket at Lane Bryant last weekend for only $29.99 on sale, I was stoked. I added a multi-colored necklaces, nude sling back pumps from Nine West and my favorite mustard colored clutch from DSW to finish off the look. Since the dress and jacket are solid colors, you could easily add different accessories to change the look.
I am constantly posting day looks, so I decided to mix it up and do an evening look. I purchased this lightweight black sweater last weekend at Lane Bryant. It was on the sale rack for $19.99….score!! I added a black cami underneath, as the sweater is very sheer. I had this faux snake skin pencil skirt from last season, also from Lane Bryant. I added doubled up two long necklaces, my $3 World Market bracelet, and my Nine West silver heels to complete the look. Cocktails anyone?
