What to Wear to a Wedding

Have you been invited to a wedding, but are not quite sure what to wear? Let the invitation, the season, and the hour of the ceremony be your guide. In general, you will want to wear a dress in just about any color except for white. For day weddings, which tend to be more casual, steer clear of anything heavily beaded or sequined. Opt for a knee length dress in a material like cotton. Strapless styles and open toed shoes get my nod of approval. If the ceremony is in the afternoon and the reception in the evening and the invitation does not specify dress, assume the event is semi formal. This calls for a cocktail dress in a color that will not upstage the bride. If the wedding is black tie, this means floor length gowns. Just use good judgment if the invitation does not specify the formality of the event. A pastel suit or soft floral dress for daytime or a little black dress for evening will take you almost anywhere.
