Color Blocking

The color block trend has been around for awhile now, but lately I have seen it cropping up in creative new ways. For those of you that do not know, color blocking is a method of wearing multiple solid colors in an outfit. The outfit revolves around a palette of two or more colors, usually in bold and bright shades. The result is a simple yet very chic look.
You can do neutral color blocking with white, pairing it with colors like brown, grey or black as well. Adding a pop of color with your handbag or shoe gives the outfit a visual interest.

Stylish Thoughts

Style is a celebration of our individuality! This is why there is no one way to look stylish and chic. My new motto is look good and feel fabulous – feel fabulous and look even better. Here are a couple of my stylish thoughts and ideas to keep in mind. My first thought is go ahead and spend your cash on one killer piece rather than five only alright pieces. I know I do not mind wearing the same fabulous piece over and over again, especially when the cost per wear whittles down to nothing. Secondly, the secret to looking polished is a fabulous haircut, a healthy glow, and well fitting clothes. A good tailor is a must. Further, I love to wear new trends. However, I always ground the outfit with classic pieces like layered necklaces, a crisp button down shirt or a structured jacket. One of my biggest pieces of advice is to HAVE FUN with fashion and style. Try new trends. Experiment. Find YOUR style!!

On Trend: Fringe

Fringe is back this spring as a major trend. I am seeing it pop up everywhere, even on swimwear and lingerie. Typically when one thinks of fringe, they think western wear. However, there are ways to rock this easy, beautiful trend that can be fun, edgy and stylish. Fringe can be styled in many different ways depending on the look you are trying to achieve. Dressed up or casually, this is one trend that you can truly make your own through your individual fashion interpretation. So go for it!! Remember this year is all about breaking fashion rules and thinking outside of the fashion box.

Interpreting Patterns and Prints

Frequently people ask me what patterns would suit them, and the answer lies in your personality traits. Who are you as a person? You will discover that you are more attracted to patterns that are representative of who you are as a person. These are the patterns make you feel the most comfortable. Here is my quick guide to interpreting prints and patterns.
1. Classic – Fine stripes, small polka dots – conventional, conservative, mature, reliable, trustworthy, safe, secure
2. Relaxed – Stripes and checks – down to earth, natural, unpretentious, easy-going, approachable
3. Dramatic – Big bold patterns, large scale, animal print, high contrast – dynamic, forceful, confident, exciting
4. Elegant Chic – Geometric – urbane, cultured, poised, discerning, refined
5. Rebellious – Graphics, leopard – anti-establishment, unconventional, sexy, shocking, defiant
6. Creative – Digital prints, wearable art, tie dye, ethnic, abstract – innovative, individual, edgy, whimsical, bohemian, eclectic
7. Feminine – Nature based, floral, butterflies, paisley – unambitious, caring, nurturing, gentle, romantic

So, which patterns do you like best? Which appeal to you? Do you appreciate some patterns on other people, but realize that you would feel uncomfortable wearing them? Do you have pieces in your wardrobe that are patterned that you never wear? Think about your personality when shopping next time. What do you want to convey to the world about your personality through your outfit?

How to Wear White Denim

If you have ever stood in a dressing room with a pair of stunning white jeans on, you know just how alluring and magical they can be. They look devastating sexy, sophisticated yet casual, and flattering on just about any body shape. What more could a girl want, right? Unfortunately, wearing them in public involves a little more than just promising not to spill anything on them. You need some outfit assembling prowess, or you can just follow my tips on wearing white denim. First of all, do not be afraid to break the “after Memorial day / before Labor day” rules. You can definitely wear white denim early on in the spring season by pairing your jeans with a darker top.
Accessories are one of the easiest ways to update an outfit. You can pair your favorite denim jeans with a knit top and an eye catching statement necklace in a bold color. This also helps if you are a little color shy and want to ease into spring.
Cropped jeans are perfect for welcoming the warmer weather. You can easily dress them up with a pair of heels or down with flats.
White always works well with a blouse or tank in a fun print or bright color. Remember, you do not have to spend big bucks to spruce up your spring wardrobe.
